Lilac essential oil originates from the leaves of a shrub native to Eastern Europe and Southern Iran.

Lilac has almost two dozens of species belonging to the Oleaceae family, and Syringa vulgaris is the most common one of them.

Lilac oil has a fresh, floral fragrance and is light purple. Active components of Lilac essential oil include (E)-ocimene, Furanoid terpene aldehyde, Benzyl methyl ether, and 1,4-dimethoxybenzene Indole. [2]

Due to its wide range of variety, lilac oil is readily available. Evidence suggests that lilac oil can help you check the symptoms of depression and anxiety. [1]

It is known to assist in the making of cleaning products for household uses. The oil can be beneficial for your immune and respiratory systems as well.

This article covers some research backed benefits and uses of lilac essential oil, plus some precautions that you need to follow.
